Today we’ve added several new features to help make managing your email accounts easier.

A new self-service platform is now in place that will allow customers to change their passwords, set up auto-responders and add fetchmail accounts without the need to contact support.

The new self-service platform can be found at http://www.alexwardweb.com/mailselfservice.

To use the new system, simply log in with your current email address and password, and you’ll be presented with a simple panel that provides a simple breakdown of all available options.

Overnight last night we ran a major maintenance event to evaluate how server1 is operating and also run some important upgrades and security fixes.

We’re pleased to say that the maintenance period was a success and gave us plenty of time to run stress tests which provide information about how well the server is performing. Areas were identified where improvements could be made and many of these improvements were implemented immediately.

The server has also been upgraded to the latest Debian operating system – Debian 7.1 – bringing many security and stability improvements, as well as various new software upgrades (for those interested – new versions of PHP5, Apache and MySQL amongst others).

We will continue to closely monitor server1’s performance to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

Good news! Alex Ward Web Services is running at full steam once again and we’re now reopening our services to new customers.

Due to unforeseen circumstances and important upcoming personal events, AWWS will be operating a hiatus on all new web construction services.

Until further notice, AWWS won’t be able to undertake any new contracts for web design/construction. Whilst this is a regrettable decision, I must focus on education at this point in time and do not wish to disappoint customers where I cannot provide the usual dedicated service that AWWS specialises in.

This hiatus is likely to be terminated later in 2013 (towards the Summer).

This decision only affects new customers – any existing contracts/agreements will continue to operate as promised and without interruption. Web hosting and updates/maintenance agreements are also unaffected by this decision. Existing customers can continue to use the service as normal.

I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all customers for their continued support and look forward to resuming full service later in the year.

It’s always reassuring to know that your website and all of it’s important data is safe no matter what happens. That’s why we’ve introduced extra backup capacity for your convenience at no extra cost.

All customers get daily and weekly backups of their site files and databases onto an independant server for free. If you need to recover a file or database, simply drop us an email and we’ll fetch the backup and email it to you within 1 working day (24 hours). Simple as.

We’re pleased to announce that AWWS now fully accepts PayPal payments via a bank account or credit/debit card. This not only brings added security to payments, but we hope it’ll also make payments quicker and more convenient. Using PayPal to pay for our services won’t cost you any extra and is available for both new and existing customers.
